First and foremost, congratulations on becoming a member of the PHS Boys Soccer program.
The coaching staff would like to begin by thanking all parents and student-athletes for your hard work over the course of the next three months. We know these seasons are relentless and appreciate everything you do to help the athletes and the staff on and off the field.
When you browse our team page you will find a section titled “Team Files”. I have uploaded the monthly calendar for both V and JV, team expectations sheets (with parent requirements as well) and any other important documents necessary as the season advances.
Many of you were unable to attend the team meeting, I understand. There was a miscommunication on my behalf which led to poor announcement of the date and time, please accept my apologies, this is not how I usually conduct team business.
The meeting addressed PHS expectations of athletes as well as PHS Boys Soccer expectations of athletes. I am attaching the link to Mr. Qualls PowerPoint presentation for your review and I have uploaded the coach’s expectations as well (these were sent home with the boys last Friday). Please be sure you are registered with our Big Teams web site and receiving updates. We will use this and the school Twitter account for any necessary changes-this information is found on the team expectations sheet-along with coaches contact information.
Students-athletes are expected to attend all events and be on time. If this is not the case, the athlete is expected to communicate with captains and coaches when/why they are missing. Lack of attendance will affect playing time, please plan accordingly and review the difference between excused and unexcused absences on our expectations sheet.
Parents (athletes can help as well) are expected to work two or more concession events this season. Varsity works JV games and vice versa. I have included the sign-up genius to this announcement. If you have not signed up by next Wednesday, remaining spots will be assigned-please plan accordingly.
JV players will be assigned 2 or more games to run lines for Varsity home games (this list will be posted ASAP to the JV web page). There will be four assigned to each game, these players are required to attend the entire game and will get a meal at half time. The remaining JV team members are required to stay and watch the first half of the Varsity game only, at half-time they may go home (but can stay as well). We try to encourage the JV team members to be active spectators in case the need arise that they are pulled for Varsity play. Varsity and JV teams have separate buses any opportunity we get, this allows the JV team to get home and prepare for their next academic day. Students are expected to ride the bus too and from away games, if a scenario arises where you would like to provide transportation home, an email request and approval to Mr. Qualls needs to be submitted 24 hours in advance and approval needs to be granted.
JV players may stay after school with Coach Blair but are also allowed to go home prior to games if a reliable ride is provided. JV parents have inquired about meals. Polly Salter a returning parent in our program has developed quite a system and will be glad to share information regarding meal delivery and preparation. Please email Polly at Polly0014@aol.com for more information. Coaches will note organize and pick-up these options-if meals are desired parent volunteers will need to provide these. The JV buses will leave no earlier than 4:30 on away game days-this means the JV students have time to go home, eat and come back if wanted. Otherwise a room will be provided (1705 in Modular 1) for a study hall option. JV players need to be back to coaches’ room 30 minutes prior to bus departure (4:00 pm prior to 4:30 pm departure) and may arrive to the field an hour before game time for home games (ex: 4:30 pm prior to a 5:30 pm game time)
Varsity arrival times before games: Home games be in Coach’s room (1710) an hour and half before the start of the game (ex: 5:30pm for a 7:00 pm start). Away games be in Coach’s room 1 hour prior to bus departure (ex: 4:30pm arrival before a 5:30 pm departure).
Parents, an end of the year Google Survey will be sent this week or next, please be sure this is completed prior to our first game (March 16th). This survey is brief and will have a few sign-up options for necessary events throughout our season. We are looking to do a few team dinners and program potlucks throughout the season. This builds the sense of comradery and helps unite our program levels. Please be prepared for emails from Polly Salter with requests for assistance and sign-up for events.
The team’s largest fundraiser of the year is the sale of Mulch. We require EACH player to sell 20 or more bags of mulch and reward our top three sales team members with spirit wear. Please be sure you are posting/sharing/asking neighbors and family members to buy mulch in the next 11 days. The deadline for sales is March14 and delivery day is March 28. Delivery day is a required event, please plan accordingly for your athlete and know parent volunteers are appreciated as well.
The team is required to do community service events. If you have any recommendations of events we can do and can help organize these the coaching staff would greatly appreciate your efforts.

There is no pick-up play today. Please prepare for tryouts on Monday. Meet in Coach Cureton's room (1710) after school for check-in and issuing of numbers.
To be eligible for tryouts you must:
Have a Physical dated after June 15, 2019
Complete the concussion training (in-person for freshmen, online for anyone after)
Completed an eligibility form for the athletic department and submitted to Mr. Qualls
Once I receive your completed eligibility form verifying the completion of the above you are eligible to tryout beginning Monday, 2/24.

It's that time of the year again. I am attaching th link to the Booster's annual mulch sale. Please share on social media, talk to you relatives/neighbors and get out and sell. As done in the past-the top three members of the program who sell the most mulch will be awarded with spirit wear! Thank you for all you do!

Winter pick-up will begin next Thursday, January 16 and will go from 2:30-4:00 pm after school. Field TBD.

Hello Parents of our PHS Boys Soccer Program.
I hope you all had a wonderful winter break with family and friends. I am excited to get started with our speed/agility training and to continue out-of-season workouts on Thursdays (beginning next week 1/16/2020).
The following are the remaining six boosters meetings for this academic year:

Hello team!
Tomorrow our 6 week, 12 session training begins with C4 Explosive Sports Training. Sessions are from 3:00-4:30p on Mondays and Wednesdays. Players have already committed and reserved spaces, if rides are needed please be in my room after school by 2:20 pm. Parents are required to provide transportation home from the facility, pick-up should be no later than 4:30 pm. The address is:

Hello Patriot Soccer family,
Today your players will be coming home with information about our winter conditioning program with C4 Explosive Sports Training. This is a six week (2x per week) program where the boys will be working on strength, speed and agility. The boys will have a pre and post assessment to show growth and improvement throughout the 12 sessions. Each session is from 3-4:30 pm on Mondays and Wednesday's from January 6- February 10. The sessions include proper warm-up, session and cool-down with multiple trainers. We will learn about proper technique, for and nutritional information. This is a great opportunity to prepare for the start of season at the end of February.
If you are interested in committing, please know it is a first-come first-served basis and the spaces are limited to 30. The cost per player is $130 (cash or check made to PHS Boys Soccer), which is about $10 per session. The program is covering some of the additional cost to make it as affordable as possible. Know that transportation is not provided to or from the training site (off-campus at 10219 Nokesville Rd, Manassas Va 20110). I am posting liability waiver (required) and the flyer in the team documents section for print. The boys will receive a copy today after school as well.

Please meet in Coach C's room tomorrow immediately after school. We will review the winter conditioning opportunity after Winter Break, cost, and how to sign-up. This opportunity is a first come, first served opportunity for the first 30 athletes who have all required items submitted. Following this meeting the boys will do player-led conditioning and pick-up on T. Clay field from 3-4 pm. Plan and dress according to the weather. Thank you,

Lifting will begin Tuesdays and Thursdays on 11/12. Please have your physical submitted so you may participate.

October 22nd from 5pm to 9pm is "Spirit Night" at Velocity Wings for PHS Boys Soccer. I will be posting a flyer, please present the flyer to your server and 15% of the nights proceeds come back to the PHS Boys Soccer Program!!

Anyone interested in trying out for Boys Soccer at PHS please attend an interest meeting in Coach Cureton's room on September 25 at 2:15. We will review out of season workouts, field time and take any questions.
In the meantime, get your physicals and do the concussion training.

Interested in Boys Soccer at PHS? Note these things below:
Head Coach: Sarah Cureton curetosm@pwcs.edu
Out of season workouts: Usually begin in October and are after school until 4:15 on the turf field. Listen for announcements in the fall or see Ms. Cureton in room 1710.
What you will need: A physical (dated after June 1st), completed the in-person concussion training, a blue emergency procedure card (see Cureton to obtain one) and gear to play soccer.
Email Coach Cureton with any questions or concerns! We look forward to seeing you soon.

Hello all,
I have attached the link for the team survey as well as the link for team concessions. We are required to work concessions for our home games (JV for V and vice versa). I am sending the link now for those of you to volunteer for a slot. Please volunteer for 2 or more time slots, with 9 home games and 6 required for each everyone will need to work 2 or more. The spaces not filled by Friday, March 8th will be assigned by the coaching staff. If you have preferred dates to volunteer please sign up by Friday. BE SURE to sign up for the BOYS soccer time slots.

Due to field conditions the JV soccer game has been canceled this evening against Brentsville. The Varsity game has been moved to Patriot HS at 5:00 pm. JV report to Coach Doll's room right after school. Varsity report to Coach Cureton's room for pregame by 3:30.

Please know there is a mandatory parent meeting to go over the team expectations and responsibilities this evening at PHS at 7:15 pm in Commons 1. This meeting please bring necessary paperwork to be returned, blue cards, and $20 for two pairs of game socks (for the athletes to keep).

Next Tuesday Boys Soccer tryouts will begin at PHS. The tryout dates/times are as follows:
Tuesday 2:30-4:15 on the Stadium
Wednesday 2:30-4:15 on T. Clay Wood turf
Thursday 2:30-4:15 on the Stadium (tryouts pending)
Friday 2:30-4:15 on T. Clay Wood turf
In order to tryout you must have submitted an eligibility form to one of the coaching staff or to Mr. Qualls. You must have already completed the concussion requirement and have a current physical on file. Once those items have been submitted and pending your grade verification, Mr. Qualls will complete your eligibility form and return to the coaching staff.
Tryouts are weather permitting, please plan for both indoor/outdoor tryouts with the appropriate gear (shin-guards, cleats, sneakers, cold weather clothing, indoor clothing, water etc.). If you have any additional questions please email Coach Cureton at curetosm@pwcs.edu

Hello all, below are a list of out of season conditioning dates and times. All sessions will be outdoors on TClay Woods turf field from 3:00-4:15. Please dress/plan accordingly.
To come to any event, you will need a physical dated AFTER 5/1 and your concussion training completed (online for any returning player or IN PERSON for any new player).

It’s that time of the year…Team Picture Time! In order to get the spring sports pictures into the yearbook, they have been moved up to tomorrow 4/3/18. We need the boys to be dressed in their white uniforms…so please make sure they are clean and not wrinkly and come to school with them tomorrow. I have attached a scanned in version of the picture form I’m going to be giving out today after practice. You can order pictures online if this is more convenient.

The coaching staff has reviewed the Spring Sports Concession sign up, we have 9 home games on the calendar this year and our parents need to work concessions. Each family will need to commit to TWO concession times minimum to be sure we have enough support for both V and JV games. Varsity parents will work JV games and vice versa.
