Just a friendly reminder that only VHSL issued passes are accepted at postseason events.  These events include District, Regional, and State Tournament events.  The GoFan passes are only accepted during regular season events.

Spring sports tryouts begin on February 23rd. 2026 Baseball Sign Up Meeting

If you are interested in trying out for baseball at Patriot please come to the sign up/interest meeting Thursday February 12 in Room 1404 (Coach Grove's) room at 2:30 pm.  Please be on time, have something to write with and know all of your clothing sizes.  The meeting will last about 45 minutes to an hour and will detail the evaluation process for tryouts.  We hope to see you there.  If you have questions, please contact Coach Grove (grovens@pwcs.edu) immediately.  

Girls Tennis Interest Meeting 2/12/26

There will be a girls tennis interest meeting on Thursday 2/12 at 2:20pm in the library.  Any student interested in playing girls tennis, please make plans to attend.  

No Speed/Conditioning Workout 1/21/26

Due to cold temperatures and a windchill making it feel extremely cold, there will be no speed work/conditioning outside today. We will be back at it tomorrow at our normal time for weightlifting right after school.

Boys Varsity Wrestling at Gainesville HS for Cardinal Duals

Cardinal Duals recap: Congrats to the team on a gutty performance, your Patriot wrestlers finished 2d overall in the 1st Annual Cardinal Duals at Gainesville HS.  Lots of great wrestling across the lineup.  The team went undefeated in pool wrestling with wins against the following: Gainesville “B”: 60-18CD Hylton: 50-24Justice HS: 51-26Osbourn HS: 40-33In the championship match, Millbrook took home the top prize with a 42-39 win over your Patriot grapplers.  Great job by Gainesville HS in hosting.  Quick turn around and we will see Osbourn again this Wednesday night. 

Men and Women's Wrestling at the Battle at the Bridge Invitational

Battle at the Bridge/Girls’ Bridge recap: What a way to ring in the New Year with the Battle at the Bridge at Woodbridge HS.  The level of competition (58 teams) was about the highest we have seen in the 5 years we have been attending and the coaches all saw very impressive wrestling from our team against talented competitors.  The team finished in 21st out of the 58 teams that competed. On the Men’s side, we had the following place winners: Angelo Chierico, 4th PlaceCohen Rhee, 7th PlaceFinn Owens, 8th Place On the Women’s side, Katie Blankenship and Alicia Joya saw their first exposure to an official tournament. Katie and Ally both hammered their opponents in the first round with a tech fall (Katie) and pin (Ally) and then faced off against some tough competition in a 30-team field.

Boys Varsity Wrestling at NOVA Classic, Fairfax HS

Great weekend of wrestling. In addition to our 14 starters, we were able to get 8 more of our up and comers in to get some experience against high level competition to include the defending Class 6 champs, Grassfield. Tryouts for Indoor Track & Field

We will conduct tryouts from 11/10-11/15, Monday through Friday, 2:30-5:00 pm, at the Patriot Track. It will be a cold week for tryouts. Be prepared.The weather this time of year will bounce between cold and warm days. Please have sweats, good running shoes, and a water bottle.Please arrive on time, maintain a good attitude, and work diligently.Requirements: a physical uploaded to Arbiter and the white, half-sheet, carbon copy form located outside the Athletic Director's office, fill out (takes less than a minute to fill out), and turn it into the athletic director.Sprinters, hurdlers, throws: Monday-Friday 2:30-5pmJumpers: Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri practice is from 2:30-5pm. Wednesday is at 6:30 pm to 8pm and Saturday at 10 am to 11:30 am.Middle and Long Distance: Monday-Friday 2:30-5 pm and Saturday at 10 am to noon

Today's baseball workout has been cancelled due to wet field conditions.  We will be back out at the field on Monday.  Please remember we are only Monday and Tuesday next week; Thursday will be an off day due to the PWCS holiday on Thursday.  

Indoor Track & Field Meeting Thursday at 2:30 pm

We will have an Indoor Track & Field meeting on Thursday, September 25th at 2:30 pm in room 1403 A/B. Pre-season indoor practices will meet M-W-F at 2:30 pm at the track. Practice will be from 2:30 to 4:30 pm. To practice you will need a current physical uploaded to Arbiter. Today's baseball work has been cancelled to allow the field another day to dry out.  We should be good to go Monday.  Monday we will hit BP on the field and next Thursday we will intrasquad.  Please remember we do not work out on off days.  We will be off Tuesday for a PWCS religious holiday!

Today's fall ball workout is being cancelled due to possible rain in the area.  In the best interest of the athletes and their transportation home we are going to play it safe and cancel today's workout.  We will resume workouts on Thursday with our normally scheduled workout.  We are monitoring weather for tomorrow which could impact Thursday depending on how much rain we get.  We will keep all participants posted as needed.

Volleyball Tryout Information

 Volleyball Tryouts are Aug 4th-6th from 3pm-5pm for Freshmen and JV, and 3pm-6pm for Varsity. If you are planning on trying out, please make sure the information below is complete asap, no later than Thursday, July 31st by 3pm.You must have an eligibility form filled out. Varsity Boys State Singles Tennis Tournament News 2025

Much Congratulations to Thiago Mendieta for his great play at the VHSL State Tennis Championship in Huntington Park Newport News, VA on June 13th and 14th.He won his semi-final Match 7-6, 6-7, 1(9)-0 which took over 2.5 hours to win. Unfortunately the next day final match win went to Deep Run HS. He proudly brought home the runner up VHSL medal representing Patriot HS for Class 6 play.Thiago had a great season this year and was the first Boys Tennis Player at Patriot High School to achieve this level of play at the VHSL state championship. The final was his only loss this season.
