Fall ball has once again been canceled due to the large amounts of rain this week and through this morning. We hope everything dries out in the coming days and we are able to get onto the field. Stay positive and control what we can control!

Due to possible heavy rain this afternoon between 1:00 and 5:00 pm, today's workout has been canceled. We will plan on working out Thursday (weather depending). A deicision on Thursday will be made around this time then. If heavy rains fall that require a lot of field work a decisions may be made earlier. We hope to see everyone on Thursday!

It is getting close to that time again; teachers and students will be returning to campus soon and out of season activities will start taking place with various sports at Patriot. We will start doing Phase I (fall ball) when we return to campus in the fall. Fall ball is open to any Patriot High School student in grades 9-12. We use the fall as a time to improve our skills and focus on fundamentals. We also will work some live intrasquad scrimmage time in on some of the days. We usually workout two to three times per week and set the days for the fall early in the process. These days are rarely changed and usually stay locked to help parents of students that do not drive with pick up after the workout. Rain out days are usually not made up, and we never workout on holidays or teacher workdays that we have off from school during the out of season portion of workouts. During the regular season (Spring 2025), we practice daily Monday through Saturday however, the fall is a chance for the kids to reacclimated to school for the year and get baseball going as the season is still a long way off. Please also understand that participating in fall ball, while very beneficial for the improving a player's skill level, does not solidify or guarantee a roster spot in the spring for anyone that participates. Below are some key reminders or points to make sure everything is ready to go, and we get a chance to start working with your son at our fall workouts!
Some key info/points:
- Fall ball will start when we return to school
- Please make sure your son has his VHSL Physical completed (MANDATORY TO PARTICIPATE)
- Please make sure your son completes his PWCS online concussion training for high school
- Fall ball is strictly optional and is open to anyone interested at Patriot in grades 9-12
- Fall ball participation does not ensure a roster spot for the Spring 2025 team
- Fall ball participants will be expected to help with any fundraising events that occur during that time as this benefits the program and the players that eventually make the roster
- Fall ball is two to three days per week (RAINOUTS ARE NOT MADE UP/HOLIDAYS AND TEACHER WORK DAYS ARE OFF DAYS)
- Team info for the fall can be found on the Patriot Baseball Twitter Page (@PatriotHitSquad)
- Other team info for fundraising etc. can be found on the school's athletics website under the baseball tab.
- Have your son say hello to me in PE class (he may be in my class, or a section that is in there when I am in the gym)
- Feel free to email me with questions (grovens@pwcs.edu) I will begin checking and responding to emails the week of 8/12/2024.
We hope to get another strong turnout this fall and look forward to a fun couple of months of training. We hope to see you there!

Hello all, please see the information below (downloadable link provided). The schedule posted is our dates for PHASE I of our offseason workout program. In the fall we stick directly to baseball skill/activity. Please notice all the dates are set, and will not be moved. If we get rained out we will not make that day up (as of now). We worked very hard to ensure every Friday is available for the participants to attend football games or other PHS events to support their peers if they would like to. During PHASE I and eventually PHASE II (Winter workouts) there will not be workouts on teacher work days or off days from school. Please see the prior post related to information of what the students must complete and submit in order to attend the workouts. As a reminder these workouts are open to interested student athletes in grades 9-12 and they are strictly optional.

Today we added a 20th contest to our 2024 schedule. Next Wednesday 5/1/2024 we will play North Stafford High School. This game is replacing the previously scheduled game with Stafford High School, that was schedule to originally be a road contest. Next Wednesday's game will also serve as our 2024 Senior night. This will allow us to celebrate our 2024 graduating seniors as we prepare to see them off to the next step in their academic and for some athletic lives. We are hopeful that we get a big crowd for senior night. Senior information will be sent home with the players either tomorrow following the game or Saturday following practice.
