Senior Baseball Players,

The application for the Josh Morrison Memorial Scholarship ($500) has been posted under the files section of the baseball homepage.  Applications are due to Mr. Qualls' office in a sealed envelope to the attention: J-Mo Memorial Scholarship (do not write your name on the envelope)  Applications are due by noon this Friday June 5th.  The winner will be announced at the baseball banquet on June 8th.

All players that still have Discount Cards need to return them to Coach Serrano or Coach Nolan by tomorrow. We must have all extras to conclude the fundraiser.

I have uploaded the Spring Break Game Schedule/Bracket and Spring Break Room List to our Team Files.  A few things...

1. The Rooming List in non-negotiable.  Players will check in and report to their assigned rooms.  
2. Our first two games on Monday and Tuesday are being played at Bishop England HS.  Times are posted on the schedule.  If we go 4-0, winning the Hatfield Division, we will advance to the tournament Championship Game on Thursday giving us 5 total games.  If we lose in the semi-finals on Wednesday morning, we will play a game on Thursday to get a 4th game.  If we lose in the Hatfield Division Championship Game, we will not play on Thursday.
3. Players will be expected to be downstairs for breakfast by 9am every morning.  We have addressed player attire already.  We will inform players of departure times at breakfast every morning.
4. Players are expected to do what is "RIGHT" at all times.

The game tonight vs. Freedom (Woodbridge) will be played at home, instead of, at Freedom HS.  Game time is still at 6:00pm.

All JV and Varsity Baseball Players will need to meet at 9:50 am at the Baseball Stadium for "The Blitz".  We will take three hours to go around the Patriot Community to finish selling the Team Schedule Cards.  All players are required to attend.  Please bring your unsold cards and your earnings.

For the families that will be traveling down to Charleston, SC for the Spring Break Tournament, below is the hotel information.  As stated at the Parent Meeting, each player will be sleeping in assigned rooms with teammates.  The total cost per player is $126.  The Spring Break Trip payment is due on Tuesday.  Check-In will be on Sunday, March 29.  Check-Out will the morning on Thursday, April 2.  We will play our last game on Thursday at some point.  The roster of invited players is also below.  If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.

Tryouts begin tomorrow and there are a few things that you need to pay close attention to.

1. ALL players must fill out and turn in the Eligibility Form to ensure that they are academically eligible, have the mandatory concussion training completed, have a physical on file, and live in our boundary.  All players that helped with the detergent on Saturday have already filled this out.  For those that have not, you will need to see Mr. Qualls at lunch or directly after school to be able to try out.
2. Baseball attire is required for tryouts.  You will need any/all protective gear and baseball pants must be worn.  Since we will be trying out inside, sneakers or turf shoes must be worn.  NO CLEATS.
3. Tryout time for Monday, February 23 is from 7:00pm-9:00pm.  Players will need to report back to school by 6:15 dressed and ready to go.

We will need all players/parents that sold detergent to be at school at 8:30 am tomorrow to help unload the detergent being delivered at 8:45 am.  Please meet at the back of the school by the Weight Room.  Each player/family will be responsible for taking their orders with them when they leave on Saturday morning.  For those players that sold to teachers, we will make special arrangements for delivery.

We will need to expedite this process as we have weather moving into the area in the morning hours.

We met today to discuss the Patriot HS Baseball Detergent Fundraiser.  After speaking with the players, I have updated both the Flyer and Customer Sheet to add Tide PODS.  Please have them use the new forms that can be found under Team Files.

A few reminders for the holiday weekend!
 

1. On Monday we will begin weight lifting.  This will take place on Monday/Wednesday/Friday from 2:30-4:00. Players will need to meet in the gym at 2:15 dressed and ready to go!

As you know, for the last three years we have placed a Marucci Team Order.  This year I have made it easier to go about doing so by creating a cart.

Under Team Links on the Baseball Page, you will see a link (Marucci Special Discount Cart) that all of the Players/Families in our program can access.  Marucci, through Prep Baseball Report VA/DC, has given us outstanding discounts on bats, gloves, batting gloves, bags, apparel, etc..  The cart closes on 11/29 at 11:59 PM to ensure holiday arrival.  If you want to take advantage of the discounts, feel free to.

Patriot High School has received a $500.00 anonymous donation to sponsor one scholarship to a Class of 2014 Senior Baseball Player in memory of Josh Morrison.  The purpose of the scholarship is to recognize a Pioneer baseball player who has dedicated himself to the game of baseball and has displayed the following qualities: leadership, character, teamwork, community service, and commitment to the Pioneer Baseball Program.  Please complete this application and turn in to the main office in a sealed envelope (attn: Josh Morrison Memorial Scholarship) no later than noon on Tuesday June 10^th.   The scholarship recipient will be announced at the baseball banquet.

The Coaching Staff is asking for your help when it comes to fundraising.  As a reminder, fundraising is NOT mandatory.  Fundraising does not ensure that your son will make the team but does ensure that they will have all of the tools necessary to get better on a daily basis.

Reminder:  Once your son is selected for either the JV or Varsity team, if he has reached his fundraising goal, the player pack is free.(Incentive Program/please review the presentation)
