Biography:
Coach Ortiz has been coaching and teaching at Patriot High School for the last 11 years. This year marks her 13th year teaching and coaching after getting her start as a lacrosse coach and English Language Arts teacher at Brooklyn, New York’s James Madison High School. She joined the Patriot High School community in 2014 and has since coached the school’s field hockey team to 10 winning seasons. She also teaches English 11, English 12, and AP English Language and Composition. Coach Ortiz has been a part of the Northern Virginia field hockey community for the past 20 years when she started playing in the sixth grade at The Hill School in Middleburg, Virginia. She played field hockey in high school on Notre Dame Academy’s varsity team for four years, and played as a captain for her last two seasons. She has also played in USA Field Hockey’s Futures program and at the club level at her Alma Mater, Virginia Tech. Coach Ortiz has built Patriot’s Field Hockey Program over the past 11 years on the pillars of the school’s foundational values of leadership, integrity, character, and pride, and hopes to continue the team’s success for years to come.
