Hi All - Just wanted to touch base with everyone who has expressed interest in Golf for Fall 2023.  First off, Thank you for your interest in the Golf team.  We are a growing program and I anticipate the largest turnout to date for the Patriot Golf Team!

Guidelines to a successful Try out and season for Patriot Golf:

1. All physicals need to be completed after May 1^st and turned into Mr. Qualls at school prior to setting foot on the course for try outs.
2. All concussion training must be completed and turned into Mr. Qualls prior to setting foot on the course for try outs.
3. Complete a Blue Emergency Contact Card.
4. Once you have turned these forms into Mr. Qualls you will receive a yellow "permission" form to give to me at try outs, this validates that your paperwork is turned in and you are ready to go.  COACHES ARE TO NOT HANDLE ANY PAPERWORK. DO NOT TURN IN ANY PAPERWORK EXCEPT THE YELLOW FORM TO THE COACH!!  One Exception is that the Blue Emergency Card is to go to the coach. I will need these in hand as we are off school property.

Try-outs will be 18 holes per day.  Your two best scores will count towards your qualifying score to make the team.  Your scores will be the determining factor of who places where.

The top 6 will receive Patriot Golf Bags for the season.

Top 5/6 will qualify for beginning of the season Tournaments, Invitationals, and District Matches.

Players who do not qualify for the top 6 can still earn a spot in the top 6 if they perform well in practice and other matches.

We will have a busy schedule for the top 6, and we will produce some JV matches for players to try and get into the top 6 as much as possible.

We will also have enough players for a ladies' team as well.  More information on matches will be coming soon.

The Parent Meeting: will take place on the 18^th green July 27^th once everyone has finished try-out period number 1.  There will be another Parent Meeting at the conclusion of the Aug. 2^nd alternative try out date.

Practice:  This is a very fluid situation as we are at the mercy of tee times and availability at the golf course.  However, we will have a tentative practice schedule of Tuesdays and Thursdays playing time and Mondays and Wednesdays practice range and putting green.  Practice times will be at 12:00 prior to the start of school and 3:00 (or close to that as possible) once school starts.

Practice is usually a 2-hour commitment to play 9 holes or range and short game.

The Top 6 will have the opportunity to practice on Fridays at Heritage Hunt CC. (practice A)

Tournaments/Invitationals/Matches: 

Top 5 make Invitationals and Tournaments (All at the beginning of the year)

Top 6 make Conference Matches, Conference Tournament, Region Championship, State Championship

Please note that transportation is not provided to any golf activity.  All transportation is up to the player to arrange.  Carpooling is encouraged.

Player Expectations: 

All Student-Athletes are to adhere to all Patriot High School/Prince William County Schools Code of Conduct at all times.  Any violation of behavior rules will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis.  1^st violation will be considered a warning with consequences.

2^nd violation will be immediate dismissal from the team.

Communication is extremely important - please make sure you contact me or another coach either via email or cell phone prior to not making a practice/activity.

1^st violation warning.

2^nd violation 1 game/match suspension.

3^rd violation - Immediate dismissal from the team.
