Charlottesville, Va. – Due to the rapidly changing landscape regarding COVID-19 and in an effort to support VHSL member schools and school divisions the VHSL Crisis Management Committee met and decided the spring sports season be delayed for two weeks with the first play date now scheduled for March 30 announced VHSL Executive Director Dr. John W. “Billy” Haun. The original spring sports first play date was scheduled for Monday, March 16. The Outdoor Track championships, Tennis Championships, and the VHSL Spring Jubilee are not affected by this delay and all championships are still scheduled on their original dates.  The Crisis Management Committee will meet again Wednesday, March 25 to re-evaluate current conditions.

Please understand that this does not change the current status of no practice etc... All practices and team meetings are suspended until further notice. March 30th is also the date that the VHSL set, PWCS could alter this date if they choose to do so, and move it back further than the VHSL's current date. Players can still work out on their own, but are not allowed to use the facilities at Patriot High School.  As more information becomes available you will be notified.

There will be a baseball interest meeting tonight at 6:30pm in Commons 1. This meeting is for all students  interested in trying out for baseball and their parents.  Please enter door #26.

Attention all baseball families of returning players and interested players.  Tonight Patriot is hosting Hylton in varsity football playoff action.  PHS is currently looking for volunteers to work the concession stand (various jobs).  If you or your children are interested please sign up using genius page via the PHS website.  We hope we are able to provide some workers for tonights VHSL playoff event! All laundry detergent needs to be picked up today following practice.  If the practice schedule changes due to weather, coaches will be available to distribute detergent until 5:00 pm.  Assuming practice goes as normal (which is the plan) players should plan on picking their detergent up today immediately following practice.

The pioneer card fundraiser is ending tomorrow.  Please submit all money and remaining cards (if you cards that were not sold) to Mr. Qualls by tomorrow afternoon NO EXCEPTIONS!  Money and cards can also be brought to Coach Cheetham, Coach Grove at practice today.  Please be on top of things and get this taken care of!  We will see you later today.  

Today's baseball workout has been canceled due to wet field conditions. Next week's workout days will be Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Friday will be an intrasqaud scrimmage day to end the fall.  Anyone who has not picked up their laundry detergent can pick it up today from 3:15-4:15 pm or next week Wednesday or Thursday following the workout. All detergent should be picked up by Thursday of next week.  Please plan to have the necessary transportation to move the laundry products following workouts next week and do not forget to grab the needed pumps.  

Intrasquad scrimmage tomorrow. Coach Grove will brake down the schedule for the scrimmage upon the players arrival.  Be on time and ready to go.   

Reminder mandatory laundry detergent pick up after practice, report to the loading dock. 

Please turn in your booster club cards tomorrow as well. 

Coach Cheetham

Patriot Athletics would like to announce Nick Grove, as Patriot High School’s Head Baseball Coach.  He is being voluntary reassigned from Gar-Field High School and is a successful and highly qualified baseball coach. We fully support this decision and welcome him to our school.  Coach Grove has been the head coach the past 2 years at Gar-Field High School.  Prior to Gar-Field he was the head baseball coach at Sunrise Mountain High School in Las Vegas and Hughesville High School in Pennsylvania.  Coach Grove currently teaches Social Studies at Gar-Field and also has a Master’s of Education in Educational Administration from Grand Canyon University.  Coach Grove will meet with interested baseball players in the near future.  Information will be posted at www.patriotpioneers.org once a date and location for the meeting has been set.  Welcome Coach Grove!

Your Pioneer card sales are due now.  Please turn in your sales along with any unsold cards to Mr. Qualls by Friday October 11th.  You are responsible for any unsold cards not turned in.

Reminder baseball workouts start today at 2:30 pm..  Make sure you have a current physical on file with the school.  Report directly to the field ready to go.

Baseball workouts will begin on Wednesday October 2nd.  Workouts will be held at the baseball field from 2:30-4:30 on Wednesdays and Fridays through the month of October.  If you have not done so already, please be sure to turn in your physicals to Mr. Qualls.  All players must have a current physical on file prior to participating in workouts.  Go Pioneers!

Reminder to everyone that attended the baseball interest meeting.  The goal was for everyone to sell 10 units.  Last push this weekend.  Laundry detergent sales end 9/16. 

Reminder:

- Turn in physicals ASAP,  You cannot participate in any off season workouts without a physical on file!

- Detergent fundraiser end 9/16, please make a strong effort to get to 10 buckets!
