Hello Patriot Girls Basketball Parents, Fans, and Players!
Since we are a little over half way through with our season I thought it would be beneficial to send out a few reminders regarding the expectations we initially set for the 2012-2013 Season at our parent meeting.
Student Athletes:
1- 1.Be on time: it is the student athlete’s responsibility to let a coach know if she will be late for any reason. If a student athlete is late there will be consequences that will be up to the coach’s discretion.
2- 2.Maintain a positive attitude: give teammates constructive criticism; always be engaged in practice and games.
3- 3.Academics come first : use time wisely by taking advantage of flex, study hall, and game days. If time is managed well tardiness to practice should be a rare occurrence.
4- 4.Be a team player: encourage your teammates while on the bench; work hard at every practice to make you and your teammates better
5- 5.Be proactive: each student athlete should personally contact a coach regarding any conflicts in the practice or game schedule.
6- 6.Support of the overall program: JV players are expected to stay and support varsity players for half of their game. Varsity players are expected to arrive at the start of every JV home game to support their “little sisters.”
7- 7.Student Athletes are expected to see our athletic trainer (ATC) when injured/hurt. The ATC will assess the injury and make recommendations to the coaching staff and student-athlete about activity. If student athletes goes to a doctor, they cannot participate in basketball until the doctor clears them for activity.
Parents/Fans/Spectators:
1- 1. Be a positive supporter of the program: this means being respectful to all players, coaches, and other fans at all times. Encourage each team as Understand that your words and actions reflect on the Patriot girls basketball program and outwardly negative behavior will not be tolerated.
2- 2. Proper protocol for resolving problems that may arise throughout the season: Step 1- student athlete should be responsible young adults and voice concerns with the coach. Step 2-If the concern is not resolved between the player and coach parent may contact coach via email and if necessary a meeting can be arranged. Step 3- If the topic needs further resolution the parent may contact the athletic director for additional assistance.
A 3.Spectator role at games: All fans are expected to be positive and encourage each player as well as the team as a whole. Please refrain from indirect coaching in the stands which could lead to a distraction on the court.
4- 4. Maintain a competitive atmosphere: Parents will prepare student athletes to win while understanding the challenges of building a new program.
5- 5.Become an active member of the Booster Club. More information can be found on our website or you may contact Mrs. Burch (our team representative)
Coaching Staff:
1- 1.Encourage student athletes to reach their full potential
2- 2.Teach student athletes life lessons, through basketball , that will help them in their years after high school
3- 3. Maintain a strict yet respectful relationship with each student athlete
4- 4.Motivate student athletes to exceed team and individual expectations
5- 5. Maintain a competitive atmosphere: coaches will prepare student athletes to win while understanding the challenges of building a new program.
6- 6.Ensure a safe environment by following the advice of sports medicine professionals to include: Athletic trainers from all schools, doctors, and health and wellness personal trainers
