The Patriot Pioneers held Forest Park's boys basketball team scoreless during the first quarter Friday en route to a 64-38 victory at home in Nokesville.
They built an 11-0 lead by the start of the second quarter, held a 29-14 advantage at halftime and expanded that lead with a 21-7 run in the third period. So Patriot improved its record to 2-0 while the Bruins fell to 1-1.
Drake Marshall led the Pioneers with 13 points, while Jalen Smalls had 10 and Devon Parrish had eight. Adding six points each were Ike Onwuka, Yousef Salih and Jakai Moore.
Onwuka also had four assists while Smalls had three. Adding six rebounds each were Miles Middleton, Marcus Taylor, Moore and Smalls. Middleton and Moore also had two blocks each.
